Why The Total Body Stretch

The approach at Total Body Stretch is designed to work on the cause of pain and pain is always a sign of physical dysfunction. Some of the components of  our therapeutic treatments include:

  1. Postural assessment - you'll know how you stand literally
  2. Specific orthopedic testing to determine the cause of pain, not a temporary fix of your symptoms
  3. Reviewed each appointment and modified if needed

Ask yourself, "How does pain and stress limit my life?"

I invite you to notice these facts and research...

  • According to the Harvard Business review, an estimated 75-90% of all visits to primary care physicians are the result of illnesses due to stress.
  • Continuous muscle contraction without being in proper alignment and balance can complicate matters.
  • 95% of all back or neck pain cannot be traced to a diagnosable, medical cause, since muscle spasm and imbalance cannot be seen with x-rays.
  • The body is 70% muscle mass. Therefore, even a muscle spasm can create structural imbalance and impede the smooth functioning of nerves and circulation
  • The more mechanically distorted a person is, the less energy available for healing.
  • The body twists and pulls (specifically the quadratus lumborum, QL) one hip higher than the other causing the spine to become misaligned and the leg shortens.
  • A half inch hip imbalance can create up to 9 spinal stress areas which pinch off vital nerve passages.
  • The quadratus lumborum muscle is one of the most commonly overlooked musclular sources of low back pain.
