FAQ

Who can receive Thai Yoga Massage?

Anybody who is open and willing to the experience of listening to their own body with a deep understanding, compassion and awareness.

How long does a typical session last?

A typical session lasts from 1 hour to 1 1/2 hours, but sessions as long as 2 1/2 hours can be booked.

Do you have to be familiar with yoga to receive Thai Yoga Massage?

No. Although some knowledge of yoga is helpful, these are not prerequisites to receiving Thai Yoga Massage.

Are any oils or lotions used?

For the complete bodywork, no oils, creams or lotions are used. At the end of the session, there is a soothing facial massage, which also incorporates some acupressure points. At this time, essential oils may be applied to provide you with a more relaxing experience.

How often can I receive a Thai Yoga Massage?

Your body is often the best indicator of this. There are really no contraindications to receiving a bodywork session everyday, but give yourself at least a few days to see how you feel both physically and emotionally after each session. Making Thai Yoga Massage a part of your regular health regimen is also a very good preventive strategy, helping to fortify and rebalance your body and maintain vitality.

What does it mean when you speak of opening the channels, working the body energetically?

The tradition of Thai Yoga Massage is based on the theory that there are energy lines which run throughout the body. Our life force circulates in well established cycles along these lines. If there is any blockage (which arises from stress, lack of movement, poor eating habits, shallow breathing, etc.) along these lines, this circulation is impeded and signs of physical, emotional or even spiritual dis-ease can result.

How do I find a practitioner of Lotus Palm Thai Yoga Massage?

Practitioners who have been trained and certified in the Lotus Palm technique are listed on the Lotus Palm site and can be contacted directly.
